Worldwide Interview 1 :- SINDEN

Tuesday, 06 Jul 2010

Our first interview for lapsap.com starts with a friend who goes by the name of SINDEN, famous for the”BEEPER track that was a crossover club smash and his super ways of blending  tropical beats to bass throbbing sounds to anything that has a groove. He takes time off World Cup and his dope KISS FM radio show to catch up with us.

Q> Been nearly a year since you were in KL, hows 2010 treating you so far?

A> Really cool it’s been business as usual, lots of touring and plenty of music to come out over the summer on Grizzly and from The Count & Sinden. We have a single ready for June and an album to be released in August on Domino Im really hyped about it, we just got the masters back & they sound fresh.

Q>A lot of hype on your label “Grizzly”, could you give a lil’ low down on that?

A> It’s my new label which I started at the beginning of the year. I’m really pleased with the buzz. It’s only 1 release deep but it’s caused a few ripples already. The first track is with SBTRKT who is the MAN right now. We spoke about this collab for a while, it’s a successful fusion of our own styles.

Q> Have you signed any artists yet, and could you name some of the producers/djs that you think are exciting at the moment?

A> Aside from the release with SBTRKT there is a Brodinski release out at the end of May. We upped the ante with the remix package too, it’s across the board. That’s the philosophy behind the label too – presenting loads of crazy styles and genres, getting outside the comfort zone and bringing through fun bass music. Look out for Bassanovva, Jay Weed, WAFA, Distal, Mele – loads of new guys basically.

Also I’m really happy that Felix Buxton, one half of Basement Jaxx, has decided to release a disco record. The name of the project is undecided so far but it’s feel good twisted bomb tune. Some years back Switch & me released a track on Atlantic Jaxx so really happy I can now host a track from Felix”

Q> A lot of dj’s have branched out into different styles thru the past year or so. Where do you see this whole “genre” thing going?

A> I think the more multi genre DJs there are the better but there are a lot of people that claim to be eclectic but aren’t. It’s become a bit of a loaded word ‘eclectic’ I think. I guess what I’m saying is that it has to be done effortlessly to work. You gotta feel it.

Q> Hows the radio show going?, and any news on allowing people outside the region to listen to it?

A> Radio is great, I always enjoy presenting the show. You can find the current shows if you google hard enough. For a slightly easier route you can hit up maddecent.com, they are hosting the shows every week again. There’s also about 40+ archive shows on there with guest interviews and mixes.

Q> Ok, lets get out of music for abit, still shopping loads?, any new labels youve been digging?

A> Yeah yknow me man, pretty hard! I bought alot of Norse Projects this season. Theyre based in denmark and they do really good quality knitwear, Shirts, boxcaps etc. It’s a clean look, kinda like a visvim but cheaper – they pretty much tookover for me. Also you have to keep an eye out for Denham, which is a new denim brand – the cut on these is a little tapered at the bottom, straight leg fitted but not too skinny. Big!

Q> Last but not least, any message you wanna shout out loud?

A> Stay on your grizzly at all times!
